  Bracing Struts

   bracing struts

Bracing Struts will be required when the load imposed by the ground exceeds the load capacity of the leg for the full excavation length.

This can occur either for very large excavations or where higher loads are imposed. In all cases, Mabey Hire engineering must be consulted for advice and calculations if necessary.

Mabey Hire offers bracing struts of several types ranging in length up to 20m and working compression loads of up to 175 tonnes.

The mechanical struts retain the loads by mechanical methods so that the risk of in-service hydraulic failure is eliminated.

The prop bodies of the heavier mechanical struts are of square cross section to reduce the risks of rolling sideways during transportation, stacking and assembly.

JC40 Mechanical Bracing Struts

   jc40 mechanical bracing struts

   (range 0.5-4.0m)
The JC40 Mechanical Bracing Strut is intended for use in between walings in the Shaftbrace, Tankbrace and Multibrace systems.
Light Duty Mechanical Bracing Struts

   light duty mechanical bracing struts

   (range 1.9-8.2m)
The Light Duty Mechanical Bracing Strut is a lighter duty version of the Standard Mechanical Bracing Strut and is also used between walings in the Shaftbrace, Tankbrace, Multibrace and Super Shaftbrace systems.

   (range 2.3m-12.5m)
The Standard Mechanical Bracing Strut is a high load capacity strut installed for use in between walings in the Shaftbrace, Tankbrace, Multibrace and Super Shaftbrace systems.
Hydraulic Bracing Struts

   hydraulic bracing struts

   (range 1.65-15.0m)
The Hydraulic Bracing Strut is a high load capacity strut intended for use in between walings in the Shaftbrace, Tankbrace, Multibrace and Super Shaftbrace systems.
Super Bracing Struts

   super bracing struts

   (range 2.0-19.6m)
The Super Bracing Strut is the flagship of Mabey Hire’s range of proprietary bracing struts, and has a size range from 2.0 metres to 19.6 metres.

Its intended applications are high capacity strutting in cofferdams and excavations, and propping to diaphragm walls and capping beams.

Where necessary, axial loads can be introduced into the struts or removed from the struts hydraulically.

Strut loads are, however, sustained by mechanical methods so as to eliminate the risk of in-service failure

  • The strut has a square cross-section, thus reducing the risk of rolling sideways during transportation, stacking or assembly which is associated with circular sections
  • A wide range of components is available for horizontal strutting, raking prop and knee brace applications
  • Standard components are designed for use in conjunction with the Super Shaftbrace waling system
